In the year 2007, a humble group of likeminded friends formed Shrigandha Kannada Balaga in a software company in Bangalore, to nurture the rich heritage and culture of Karnataka, through Rajyotsava celebrations. In pursuit of serving the society, they extended their helping hands in various important sectors of the society including social, medical, educational and many more. The beneficiaries were mostly from rural sector. The vibrant transformational results were soon visible and globally acclaimed.
Though the team started with one school in the year 2008, by 2015, the team had accelerated to six schools through notebook donation drives. It had also diversified its activities to impart training to the teachers, organizing science workshops and providing career counselling to the rural students.
By then, the volunteers who were spread across the globe, opined that Shrigandha Kannada Balaga should be registered officially since a registered entity can scale up to a great extent and reach more beneficiaries. During January 2021, group of friends over a coffee decided the framework of a registered entity.
An official entity, SHRIGANDHA FOUNDATION came into inception on 6th March 2021, with registered lifetime trustees. Later during a formal meeting, the office bearers including President, Vice President, Secretary, joint Secretary, Treasurer and other working committee members were appointed.
Currently, the number of beneficiary schools have grown close to 100 for the year 2024-2025 and on the rise further. Also, Shrigandha Foundation (R) has spread its wings in Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Tumkuru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Chikkaballapura, Shivamogga, Chikkamagalur, Udupi, Mangalore, Raichur, Chamarajanagara, Kolar and Mysore districts.
Shrigandha Foundation is involved in distribution of book and stationary materials to students, setting up Mathematics Laboratories in schools, installation of pure drinking water set-up in schools, construction of toilets in schools, creating health awareness and distribution of re-usable sanitary pads to girl students, organising blood donation drives to Thalassemia children, conducting free SSLC tuitions to economically weaker section students, CET coaching for rural students, mentoring needy students through skill development programs and many more.
Through Shrigandha Foundation's unique program Shrigandha Vidhyanidhi provided scholarship for 105 needy students across Karnataka and helping them to pursue their higher education including BE (Engineering), MBBS (Medicine), PhD, MSc, MCom, BCom, CA, Diploma etc.,
With a strong intent to serve larger group of beneficiaries, the foundation is steadily marching towards the intended mission, "Building a self-sustainable society"/"ಸಶಕ್ತ ಸಮಾಜದ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ".
We are extending our formal wing outside Bangalore with the Inauguration of "Shrigandha Foundation - Mysore Chapter" on 5th Oct, 2024.
